Baking Better Bagels

Mr Bagels invests in state of the art packing lines

Leading bagel maker, Mr Bagels, is putting in place the investment needed to achieve its ambitious sales targets by adding state of the art frozen and ambient packing lines to the production process in an investment programme costing half a million pounds.

"The new lines will put us on target to achieve our goal of selling 150 million bagels a year by 2006," says Mr Bagels' Managing Director, Paul Kahalani. "This new machinery will make us more efficient and better able to satisfy our customers' needs."

The new frozen packing line, which is already in place, packs 35,000 bagels an hour. The ambient line, to be commissioned before the end of this year, will bring total ambient packing capacity to 30,000 an hour, up from the current capacity of 10,000.

"Sales this year have already exceeded our ambitious targets," says Paul Kahalani. "The Mr Bagels story has been one of continuous growth since we opened our first bakery in East London in 1988."

Mr Bagels can supply frozen bagels worldwide and sales are expanding rapidly in these new markets. "Our bagels are proving popular with both UK and European retailers as well as food service companies," he says.

"Our growth targets for the next two years are ambitious and we are confident that we will achieve them," says Paul Kahalani. "Our bagels are the best and our sales growth shows our customers love them."
